Washington and Lee Reveals Scholar-Athlete Awards for Fall 2025 Term

LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee University (W&L) continues to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence in the realm of athletics. Recently, Jan Hathorn, the university’s Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics, announced that an impressive 427 student-athletes have earned the prestigious W&L Scholar-Athlete Award. This award recognizes those who achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher during the fall term that just concluded last December.

The collective achievement of the student-athletes is remarkable, with all 603 athletes combining for a stellar overall GPA of 3.643 while completing a staggering 9,813 credit hours. Additionally, 31 of these student-athletes embarked on academic adventures abroad, balancing their studies with their commitments as athletes.

Among these high achievers, a noteworthy feat was accomplished by 98 Generals, who managed to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. This level of academic performance showcases not only dedication on the field but impressive intellectual discipline as well.
