Brewers Claim Several Sporting News Honors

Brewers Shine in MLB Awards as Personnel and Players Take Home Honors

In a celebration of excellence and success, Sporting News announced the winners of its Major League Baseball (MLB) awards on Thursday morning, and the Milwaukee Brewers were front and center, gathering several accolades for their impressive performances throughout the season.

Managerial Excellence

Pat Murphy has once again proven his mettle as the helm of the Brewers, earning his second consecutive National League Manager of the Year award from Sporting News. Murphy’s strategic brilliance was evident as he navigated the team through a season marked by both challenges and triumphs. His leadership was crucial in guiding the Brewers to a franchise-record 97 wins in 2025. This achievement is notable, especially considering the team faced roster adjustments after a successful 2024 season, during which they secured the NL Central title with 93 victories.

Adding to the Brewers’ accolades, Matt Arnold, who was recently promoted to President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, also clinched his second consecutive Executive of the Year award. Arnold’s foresight and decision-making contributed significantly to the team’s stellar performance, setting a tone of resilience and determination that resonated throughout the organization.

Stellar Performances on the Field

While managerial awards are a testament to leadership, the players’ performances on the field speak volumes about their talent and dedication. Outfielder and designated hitter Christian Yelich was honored with the NL Comeback Player of the Year award. After enduring a challenging 2024 season that was marred by back surgery, Yelich faced a rocky start to 2025 but rebounded brilliantly. By mid-May, he had found his rhythm and went on to appear in 150 games. His final stats were impressive: a .264 batting average, a .343 on-base percentage, and a .452 slugging percentage, highlighted by 29 home runs, 103 RBIs, 88 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases, culminating in a total of 3.1 bWAR.

Rising Star: Brice Turang

Continuing the celebration of talent, second baseman Brice Turang was recognized as an NL All-Star. At just 25 years old, Turang had already demonstrated exceptional growth, with his stellar performance in both 2024 and 2025 showcasing his evolution as a player. After winning the NL Platinum Glove in 2024, Turang not only maintained a solid defensive showing but also noticeably improved his offensive skills. Over the course of 156 games, he recorded a batting line of .288/.359/.435, hitting 18 home runs and driving in 81 RBIs while crossing the plate 97 times and stealing 24 bases. His overall contributions placed him in a tie for the highest bWAR on the team at 5.5, alongside teammate Freddy Peralta.
