Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Qatar Sports Club’s Youth Programme

Qatar Sports Club has embarked on a vital initiative for its 2025 youth programme, aptly themed “Our Summer for Our Youth.” This initiative operates under the auspices of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, emphasizing the importance of nurturing youth development within the community.

Fostering Responsibility in Youth

Central to this programme is an enlightening awareness lecture aimed at instilling responsibility skills among summer camp participants. Conducted in collaboration with the Programmes and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases Department at the Ministry of Health, the lecture is a crucial component of Qatar’s National Mental Health Programme. Delivered by Dr. Al-Arabi Atallah Quwaidri, a specialist in therapeutic psychology, this talk focused on the multi-dimensional nature of accountability.

Dr. Quwaidri defined responsibility as an individual's commitment to their words and actions. This encompasses not only legal but also ethical, social, and collective responsibilities. By understanding their own responsibilities, the youth can enhance their skills, empowering them to tackle various tasks with greater independence and confidence.

The Pillars of Responsibility

During his lecture, Dr. Quwaidri elucidated the foundational pillars of responsibility. The first is **self-control**, which encourages individuals to set realistic goals. Following this, a positive attitude is essential, as it helps in mitigating knee-jerk reactions such as anger. The speaker emphasized the need for individuals to rely on themselves as they navigate their responsibilities.

Responsibility encompasses not just the acceptance of assigned duties but also the ability to endure challenges, irrespective of their nature. It is pivotal for individuals to approach their duties with diligence, fulfilling obligations and adhering to established laws. Striving for **excellence** is another key element; the speaker encouraged participants to harness their capabilities, maintain perseverance, and approach tasks with dedication.

Transformative Effects of Responsibility

Dr. Al-Arabi articulated the myriad positive effects that arise from embracing responsibility. This proactive approach assists individuals in achieving their future goals, thereby fostering self-respect and garnering respect from others. A profound sense of psychological ease emerges when individuals feel capable of managing their tasks effectively.

Creating a structured list of specific tasks can motivate change and enhance a person’s desire to enact positive transformations in their life and, by extension, society. Dr. Quwaidri stressed the significance of recognizing one’s problem-solving abilities and strengths, enabling youth to confront obstacles head-on.

Acknowledging Contributions

The session concluded with a recognition ceremony wherein Dr. Quwaidri was honored for his invaluable contributions to youth education. The head of the Youth Department expressed gratitude for the partnerships formed with the Programmes and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases Department, highlighting the vital role of these initiatives in promoting awareness among the youth and the broader community.
