For many years, she worked as a mediator with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, where her sharp mind and dedication to resolving disputes made her a respected figure among colleagues and clients alike. Her remarkable capacity to foster understanding between opposing sides highlighted her belief in the importance of dialogue and compromise.
Before her pivotal role in mediation, Melanie garnered valuable experience as a union organizer for various labor organizations, including the ILGWU, the SEIU State Council, and 1199P. This work further reinforced her commitment to the empowerment of workers, particularly women, in navigating complex labor issues.
